My father passed away six months ago. Since then, I have been trying to make sense of his life and its application to my own. Dad never left the small town where he was born. After growing up there, I left and never looked back.
Today I am attending the annual fall festival in my hometown which, this year, is being dedicated to my father. Instead of moving to a large community and having a small impact on a lot of people, he stayed put and impacted a small number of people in a big way.
This is my learning. As leaders, we all play an integral role in our “corporate communities”. Some of us run small businesses with a few employees while others lead global enterprises comprised of thousands. The size of our company, however, is not important. What’s important is whether we create a positive, life-changing impact on each person we have the privilege of leading. Be bold!
Be intentional about it…
