Building and sustaining a great culture is like trying to put socks on a rooster. It’s a lot of hard work.
Culture fights back. It does not like change. Culture does not know whether it is good or bad…it just is what it is. It does not know where you want it to go…only where it has been. Culture remembers the past and fights to stay there. Left untended, it will also regress quickly.
Once established, however, great cultures also remember their past and will fight to remain great cultures.
Creating and sustaining the desired culture for an organization demands a lot from its leader, but the rewards for doing so are immeasurable. No, strike that…the rewards for doing so are very measurable indeed!
Be intentional about it…
