Sometimes we lose our way as leaders. Trusting our instincts leads to a bad outcome. An unfortunate event shakes our confidence. Our genuineness and authenticity is impacted by trying to be someone we are not. We may not know we have gone off course, and even if we do, we may not know how to find our way back.
Trust the people of your organization in times like this. They will tell you if you are off the path. They will also point you in the right direction and support you as you make your way back. People will do this because they want to work with the leader you were, not the leader you have become.
Talk with members of your team if you feel uncertain or vulnerable. Find out if you are off course and, if so, ask for directions. They will welcome the opportunity to support you and show you the way.
Be intentional about it…
