Should executives lead from the front or from behind? My experiences suggest that great leaders do both.
When things are going well, they step back, set direction and allow their people to take the lead. They support, guide and mentor their employees thus allowing them to grow professionally and gain exposure within the company.
When times are difficult, great leaders step to the front, protect their people, and lead by example. Their willingness to step up during challenging times inspires others and builds trust and confidence across the organization.
Great leaders understand the importance of leading from different spots on the field of play.
Be intentional about it…
