Corporate cultures are on the move. The “now-normal” is already causing cultures to shift…ever so slightly, but continuously. These changes are occurring, in part, because of the virtual environment where we now must work. It is also happening, in large part, because of the way leaders are responding to this new environment.
I don’t like the now-normal. I miss the connectivity that comes from working together with a group of people in a physical space. It affects the way I lead, and not in a good way. Other members of my team, however, are flourishing in this new environment…it plays to their strengths. Confronted with this new reality, it would be wrong for me to force us back to the way things were before. I am the one who must change.
If it sounds like I have gone down a rabbit hole, I beg to differ. This is just one example of many decisions that will impact a company’s culture. Be keenly aware of how you and your employees are adapting to this new work world. Take care of yourself and, more importantly, take care of your people. If you do that, your culture will be in good hands.
Be intentional about it…
