I am not always proud of the person I see in the mirror, but I am proud of the person I am trying to become. All too often, I falter in my role as a leader and it is never a heartwarming moment.
The easy way out would be to say, “Hey, I am the CEO, this is the way I operate and everyone else needs to get with the program.” This would never work for me, however, because of a lesson I learned years ago from my dad. His message was simple…”If you have been a butt, admit it, apologize for it, and stop being a butt.”
So I look for inspiration from the exceptional leaders in my own organization. They represent the kind of leader I aspire to become, work towards, and be proud of.
Be intentional about it…
